Athlon ranks Huskers preseason No. 16
Athlon magazine is counting down its preseason college football top 25 and has Nebraska checking in at No. 16.
Does anyone else think that seems a little high? The Cornhuskers obviously have a lot of momentum going after last year's 9-4 season, but breaking in a new starting quarterback and returning the second-fewest number of starters in the Big 12 Conference won't be an easy chore.
Early feedback on our prediction that Nebraska will finish 8-5 in 2009 is running 50-50. One e-mailer says that prediction is not nearly optimistic enough and that the Huskers will at least be 10-3. Another e-mailer chided us for thinking NU has a chance to get wins in three swing games against Missouri, Texas Tech and Colorado. "Take off the rose-colored glasses" was his request.
