Alamo Bowl review

As you might have suspected, it was wall-to-wall smiles at Nebraska's team hotel Thursday morning as the Cornhuskers basked in the afterglow of their 32-28 upset win over Michigan.

A great win for Nebraska that should surely have the players and coaches eager to look ahead to next season. Haven't had a chance to research this yet, but I'd guess that a college football team winning back-to-back games as double-digit underdogs is quite a rare feat. It definitely says a lot about this year's team.

I see I've been called out on the blog for my late-season collapse and my 1-4 finish (ouch). However, how about a little love for the 7-0 start, which included taking some heat over (correctly) picking Missouri and Texas Tech to win over the Huskers? All the picks can be documented in Huskers Illustrated and on NTV.

Anyway, it's all in good fun. Keep in mind that when anyone in the media makes a prediction, it's nothing personal. We're simply trying to give you our best guess and whether it's my pick or Lee Corso's call, you really can't put any more stock in it than a prediction made by the average Joe on the street.

Besides, if you take Nebraska to win every game, what's the point of making a pick? Even the most diehard Husker fan would have to admit that they didn't fully expect Nebraska to win every game this year. If they did, they're either on medication -- or need to be.

Happy New Year!

I expected you to write something good about the Huskers, like you were wrong, and they played well in the last two games. Instead, we get excuses why you were 22 points off on your picks. I picked the losses to KU, TTU, OK and Mizzou before the season. I also picked a loss to CU, but I will say this, the Huskers looked like a team the last few games. They showed heart, determination, and a will to win.

How about at least giving them some credit? It might get some people off your back.
