NU-Kansas State pick

Storylines are in no short supply tonight as Nebraska plays Kansas State here in Manhattan tonight. Among them:

Just Joshin': Much of the talk this week in Husker Nation has been centered around Josh Freeman. Once pledged to the a Husker, the true freshman gets his second career college start tonight against Nebraska. Big Red fans will certainly be interested to see how this matchup turns out.

Milestone awaits: A victory over Kansas State would be the 800th all-time win for Nebraska. That would put the Huskers in an elite class along with Michigan, Notre Dame and Texas.

Battle of the unbeatens?: A NU victory would also set up a marquee matchup with Texas next week in Lincoln. Assuming wins by the Huskers and Longhorns tonight, the two storied programs will be the only remaining unbeaten teams in Big 12 play. The NU-UT game could very possibly be a preview of this year's Big 12 title game.

Manhattan misery: Nebraska is looking end a four-game losing streak at Kansas State, dating back to 1996.

Finally, predictions by Independent writers covering tonight's game:

Terry Douglass: Nebraska (24-14)
Tony Boone: Nebraska (30-13)
Kevin Schuster: Nebraska (27-10)
